  • Samuel Gawith and Gawith Hoggarth & Co. to re-unite 05 March 2015 | View comments

  • For 150 years the two iconic, Kendal-based English tobacco companies have traded seperately after an amicable split in 1865.  Samuel Gawith will leave their factory 'The Brown House' to move in with Gawith Hoggarth & Co.

There will be no job losses and the SG tobaccos and snuffs will continue to me made in the same way, just under a different roof.  Both the SG and GH&Co. brands will remain unchanged.  I'm sure this will be a relief to the many fans of both companies out there!

Bob Gregory, MD of Samuel Gawith has also assured the KPC that our own blend 'Bothy Flake' will continue to be produced.  Phew!

There is a nice article on Pipesmagazine.com that gives detail of this historic event.

We at the KPC wish both companies all the very best in their new venture.
